Nothing Grim About It

Really well organised event with the loveliest marshals (thank you to the lady at the 10 mile mark who chatted to me about marathons!) This was the longest run in my training block for Manchester Marathon and it was a pleasure to be able to do it so well supported with encouragement from other runners. Thank you!

Friendly

I've done a few Grim runs on the last 2-3 years and always enjoyed them, able to run at my own pace and given encouragement from other runners too, feed/drink stations every 3 miles and the cake / goodies at the end is always appreciated
Love the unique medals and getting quite a collection now!

Glorious run on a glorious day!

The start was prompt, the marshals were great, there was a great selection of cake, etc at the end and the medal is very good!

Amazing and value for money

This was my 3rd it’s grim up north race and the atmosphere is amazing, everyone is friendly and motivating. The water/fuel stations every 3 miles is good and then station at the end with cakes sweets fizzy pop etc is good. The medals are really nice too!!! Very good value for money.

Nice route but poor organisation around another running event happening in the area

This was my first event with this company and initially when booked, I thought it was good value for money but on the day it didn’t feel this way. There were 3 portable toilets which were adequate for the number of runners. But no bag drop or sheltered area, we left our stuff in a tree and were lucky it didn’t rain.
The briefing at the beginning explained the route which seemed very straight forward but it was never mentioned that another race was happening in the area too (the organisers thought the other race was the following weekend)
While running I saw the other race’s mile sign markers out which were confusing and then a marshal from that race insisted two of us take a turn (this marshal assumed we were part of their race !) . Poor communication between the two races.
I ended up running up a very steep hill into some wooded area, totally lost and on my own, as a female I felt very vulnerable.
I ended up turning around and finding my way back but has lost my pacing etc .
I completed the race with an additional 1.5miles so a 20mile marathon training run ended up being 21.5 miles! This was my last marathon training run and I was totally exhausted and deflated by the experience.
The organisers at the end didn’t seem interested in what had happened!
I could have ran the same route for free and would have had a better experience with £37 in my pocket!
Also, than email with all the event details would have been handy too.
I’ve been to better organised events for half the price so sadly I won’t consider these events again.
