Great prep for marathon and beautiful scenery
Ran 20 miles in prep for my first marathon. I really enjoyed it. Weather changeable and in a couple of exposed areas my gloves were a godsend. Got a little confusing when course adjustment due to storm Dave affected some distances. I was new to bring your own cup and would have liked stations to pour water for you rather than do-it-yourself but this may be the norm. Shout out to friendly/animated 5/15 mile turnaround marshal gave me a boost. Good facilities in Cricket club - toilets, cake and drinks - bar open for the after run celebration!

Great event, poor photos.
Really great event, nice and flat, beautiful scenery.
All the pics are now up and as i said, 20 miles run with not one photo taken of me. Bit disappointing. Also the 20 mile course was actually 33km which was fine but not if you're looking for accurate times.

While storm Dave changed the route, the Marshall was poor and failed to communicate new route plans. Rude Marshall’s. Felt very unfriendly for some of the staff. For £56 expected more from the event organisers.
Route was beautiful but too narrow for everyone being set off, even at different times due to the laps required as ultra runners we found ourselves stuck at the turning points.
Hi Kirsty, I am sorry that you were disappointed with the event. It would have been great if you could have mentioned at the event the problem you encountered with the marshal/marshals. We do aim to please and yes Storm Dave and the tree did take us by suprise. I hope you did get some enjoyment from the day.

The course was too long!!!
Entered the 10k. Ended up running 10.41km. This seems a fundamental part of the race.
Thank you for your comments. We will be going out and reviewing the course. Apologies

Flat, beautiful scenery, cool medal.
Really enjoyed the day. Had all the seasons weather wise but it didn't hamper it. Really friendly and would recommend.
Only silly gripe..... Ran 20 miles and the photographer didn't take one pic of me. Bit of a shame but hey ho.
Photos aren’t uploaded yet :-)

Excellent organisation and very friendly even
Great out and back run, flat as they come. Do a few of these runs as the atmosphere is good and don't feel pressured to keep up with everyone else.

Fast out and back with great scenery to keep you motivated
Weather was windy, sunny and wet changing every 5 minutes but that did not stop the enjoyment. Course was over the 10k distance but worth the entry.
Decent
Was expecting water stations every 3 miles. Saw only one. Also no mile markers.
We had Water Stations every 3 miles today. Mile markers only tend to be used on road races, and I do think if we had placed any mile markers on course today, they would have ended up in the canal :-)

Good run enjoyable until its painful
Enjoyed the run well organised. Friendly runners telling you to keep going when you pass each other. Definitely did not enjoy the extra 1.4k on the marathon but I believe that was due to a slight alteration to the route due to fallen trees, so instead of 2 half marathon loops we had to do 2x10mile and a 10k. Last minute adaption and not the organisers fault. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger
Indeed it does.

Very cool, storm Dave can bugger off!

Well organised but also very relaxed atmosphere

The run was fantastic. I used this as my longest run for training for London Marathon 2025 and it helped so much as I am not the type of runner to run 20 miles on my own. The scenery is fantastic and support on the run is great.
I am not a fast runner and was allowed to start 30 minutes before my start time which helped me feel more included as the faster runners overtook me. Everyone is supportive and the cakes/biscuits/drinks keep you going. I have taken part in a few of these runs now and will continue to do so as they are so friendly and well organised with a big medal (always a bonus).

Nothing Grim About It
Really well organised event with the loveliest marshals (thank you to the lady at the 10 mile mark who chatted to me about marathons!) This was the longest run in my training block for Manchester Marathon and it was a pleasure to be able to do it so well supported with encouragement from other runners. Thank you!
Helena Januszewski
Really fun race, busier than I expected and well organised!
Dawn Richardson
Fantastic as ever Grim events
Thanks for a fabulous morning

Friendly
I've done a few Grim runs on the last 2-3 years and always enjoyed them, able to run at my own pace and given encouragement from other runners too, feed/drink stations every 3 miles and the cake / goodies at the end is always appreciated
Love the unique medals and getting quite a collection now!

Glorious run on a glorious day!
The start was prompt, the marshals were great, there was a great selection of cake, etc at the end and the medal is very good!
