If you've never visited or run around the grounds of Temple Newsam then you're in for a treat. Temple Newsam is a jewel in the crown for Leeds. Loads of walking and running trails, a farm for the kids and big kids, a cafe, shop, a big house to wander around and the grounds are a delight any time of the year.

We took a year off from Temple Newsam last year, but now we're back. The course is a mixture of open country, garden and woodland. Underfoot you'll find path, grass and trail. The course is undulating but with a 6.5 hour cut off it's doable even for the newly initiated. There are 4 distances to choose from and lots of fun to be had.

You'll find well stocked drinks and feed stations every 3 miles. The course will be well signposted and the Grim marshals will be out on course giving you encouragement. There are plenty of toilets near the start/finish/registration area. There is now a charge for parking, Leeds City Council charges, please check beforehand.

When you finish your distance, you'll find a warm welcome from the Grim Team, lots of goodies to help you recover and a bespoke medal. We love you to stay around and have a chat, with the team and other runners.

During the race and important things to note:

We try to be cup-less: Our feed stations are normally around every three miles and offer drinks and a range of food but please bring your own re-usable cup or bottle.

Headphones: Most of our courses are off road but we still prefer you not to wear earphones and due to oncourse incidents, we have taken the decision to ban large over ear headphones. These block out any other sounds and don't allow runners to hear marshals, vehicles or other users of the route. If you do need to wear earphones, then please use bone conducting earphones or "one in one out" in ear pieces.

Know your route: We offer downloadable GPX files for our routes. Our routes are mainly off road and not every corner or junction will have a marshal. Please ensure you have a version of the route to help you navigate.

Withdrawal: If you need to withdraw during an event please let the nearest marshal know. In certain circumstances we allow runners to drop distances during an event. Please speak to the timers or RD at the end of your run.

Transfers or deferral can be done by you, on our website www.itsgrimupnorthrunning.co.uk up to 48 hours before the event.

We no longer mail out a race brief as most of the information is here on the website however we advise you to visit our FAQ section and join the “Grim Up North Chat” group on Facebook which will help with any other questions you have.
