Lovely route for my first half marathon.
Great organisation. Nice and low key but with everything you needed. Everyone friendly. Route well marked even though do think the turnaround point could have had some sort of cone to runaround but minor comment.
Fab medal and great spread at the end. Didn’t realise no prize giving but understand reasons for it. A lot of distances going on at once would make it hard to manage. Happy with medal and fab ginger cake!!! :-)
Thanks very much. Will defo look at doing another Grim event next year
Hi Louise thanks for your lovely review. point taken on regarding turnaround 'thing' the marshal was over a mile out so couldn't take anything big, maybe a small cone in future would be a good idea. Thank you.

Brilliant!
I was a bit nervous as this was my first Grim race and I was running alone. I felt so welcomed by many of the runners and stewards and I had the most brilliant experience running.
It feels very joyful to be able to run and keep myself fit, helping me manage an auto immune condition with events like this where I felt welcomed and supported. Thank you!
Hi Gem, Thank you for your kind words. So glad you felt the love. Very well done.
Michael Jeffrey
challenging!
Yes Michael, I would agree, very challenging but fun :-)
Anne Nixon

Boring, NOT trail, unclosed roads, turning point not signed
This is a trail race in the sense it was on a trail but it’s all a hard tarmac paths with the first mile being mainly a significant uphill. This is an out and back and there was no was to identify the turning point. A lady was sat at the side in a camping chair but wasn’t giving instructions. I asked if I turned there as I couldn’t see any runner up ahead but there were no cones in the path to run round or signs to indicate a U turn so I lost time trying to understand where to turn round. The route is boring and busy with non-runners such a casual walkers and cyclists. There is also a part on a road which wasn’t closed so vehicles were going up and down it round blind bends. There was no presentation at the end for any winners overall or vet categories. I was told they spend the money on the food and drink at the finish (which was cake, sweets and cans of pop)
Hi Chemane, I'm sorry to hear you were disappointed. We're a very small organisation with lots of lovely volunteers. Always good to hear different types of feedback. Thank you for your comments

It’s boss up north!
Where do I start?
Amazing volunteers, lovely snacks and drinks at stations and the finish, great routes and a friendly atmosphere with everyone who attends. This was my second grim event and I’m hooked on them!
The knaresborough run was set in stunning scenery and it will be on the yearly calendar now.
There is nothing to fault! Keep up the great work guys!
Hi Raymond. Thank you for the amazing review. Glad you enjoyed the day.

It's never "Grim up North"
This was my first Grim up North event and It was brilliant, It was friendly, well organised, good fun, excellent feeding stations, well manned with plenty of super friendly marshals'.
The directions were very clearly marked, there was a fun and lively atmosphere.
The photography and medal were also outstanding quality. I purchased a hat and hoodie, again fabulous quality and value for money.
I look forward to attending Grim up North events in the future.
