Join us at Kirkstall Abbey in Leeds for an unforgettable trail running experience as we celebrate our birthday in true runner’s style! Whether you’re chasing your first medal or training for a big race, this multi-distance trail running event has something for everyone.

Choose from 6.6 miles, half marathon, 17.6 miles, or a full marathon – all on a looped course designed to showcase the very best of Yorkshire trails.

 About the Kirkstall Abbey Trail Run

Set against the stunning backdrop of historic Kirkstall Abbey, this Leeds trail race takes you on a journey through woodlands, fields, canal towpaths, and riverside paths.

• Scenic trails along the River Aire and Bramley Fall Park

• Mixture of trail, pavement, towpath, and woodland terrain

• Exciting features including river crossings and twisting woodland tracks

This is more than a race – it’s a celebration of running in one of Leeds’ most beautiful locations.

• 8.8 Miler – 1 loop

• Half Marathon – extended single loop

• 17.6 Miler – 2 loops

• Marathon – 3 loops

• Ultra Marathon 4 Loops

• Parking: Pay & display at the Abbey or free parking at Morrisons, Kirkstall

Race Day Schedule

• Registration opens: 8:00am (allow at least 1 hour for parking, registration, and toilets)

• Race starts:

  • Ultra Maraton, Marathon & 17.6 miles – 8:30am

  • Half Marathon – 9:00am

  • 8.8 miles – 10:00am

All races are fully licensed by the Trail Running Association.

Important Information

• Cup-less event: Please bring your own reusable cup or bottle.

• Headphones: Over-ear headphones are not permitted. If you need music, please use bone-conduction or "one in, one out" earphones.

• Road crossings: Some sections are un-marshalled – stay alert.

• Transfers/Deferrals: Free via the Grim Up North website (changes on race day may incur a £5 admin fee).

• Injury/retirement: Notify the nearest marshal if you are unable to continue.
