It’s Grim Up North have always focussed on empowering and encouraging runners from all parts of society and so we are incredibly proud to support the ‘Let’s Lift the Curfew’ movement and support women’s running and early in 2025 we will run a series of 5ks to support the movement.

We will welcome pay on the day or advanced sign-ups for these events

Bingley 5pm start, 15th Feb

These evening 5k events are open to both male and female runners and are about empowering women to run, jog or walk in an environment that may be challenging to them in other circumstances.

These sites offer great advice on running safely and allying.

We would encourage all runners to wear hi viz clothing and lights for the events and to enjoy the evening out on the canal.

The events are £10 per person and the proceeds will go to: Leeds Women Aid https://leedswomensaid.co.uk/ .

Almost three-quarters (72%) of women in the UK change their outdoor activity routines during winter – and our Let’s Lift the Curfew movement is calling for that to end.

New research we've released today highlights the precautions women are taking to stay safe when getting active outdoors after the clocks have gone back.

One in four (24%) ensure to take well-lit routes, almost a quarter (23%) avoid certain areas altogether and one in five (20%) glance behind them to ensure they’re not being followed.
