Well organised event suitable for all
I’ve done a few Grim events over the years but the bigger ones are always great as cater for all abilities/distances.
Medals are fab, and they always look after you with drinks and snacks. Can’t go wrong with finish line cake and Fanta!

Lovely run along the canal will definitely be coming to run again. Goodies and treats for afterwards were fantastic... I give the banana bread a 5/5.

The best race to come last at.
As a slow runner, I’m training for a half and an autumn 10k and wanted a friendly race to push myself.
My friend was able to get an on the day entry and we did the race at conversational pace.
The race briefing was clear and concise and there were toilets and everything you need beforehand.
The 10km set off on its own but there were other runners from the other races on the route.
We very quickly became the last of the pack but every runner from the event that we encountered was friendly and encouraging.
At the halfway point, after the joy of 5 rise locks there was a water and food station (still well stocked) and a Marshall to turn us around.
The way back was a bit faster as all the hill were downhills but we were definitely the last in the 10km by some way.
We still got a cheer, a medal and drinks, sweets etc at the finish line.
Because there were other runners still out on the course and because the canal is still open to the public, it did not feel uncomfortable or embarrassing to be the last one at all. Which is something that puts people off trying out races. I would highly recommend the event because of this and how friendly everyone was throughout. I will be back and probably last again.

Fun
This was my first race after completing a couch to 5km program. This is an ideal course for anyone new to running as it is mainly flat. The organisers were very friendly & it was running extremely well. I'm looking forward to my next Grim up north race
