Great scenery but poor organisation
It was a lovely scenic run, but I felt the race was short on marshals. I wasn't sure towards the end of the race if I should have turned off somewhere as I had gone past the distance, and there were no supporters or marshalls around.
I ordered a T-shirt and 2 months later I still haven't received it, with no update on timescales, despite me emailing to ask about it.
Everything you'd expect from a IGUN event
Good overall event despite agreeing with a couple of the negative points in other reviews. Organisation and marshalling not as forthcoming as some other events but still at an acceptable limit. Only negative I would mention personally was the significantly longer distance on my GPS watch than the event is registered at (13.5mi vs 13.1mi) but it's just about running it when all said and done. Post run food and drink of a good standard and mix and the person in charge was very friendly and helpful. Thanks to our hosts.
Had a great time.
Great event as always from GRIM. Cakes and chocolate at the end.
Beautiful race with a couple of hiccups
The scenery along this route was beautiful, and the flat canal path made for a great first marathon route. The medal was amazing, as were the goodies at the finish line.
However, there were a couple of things that left the race as not an entirely positive experience. Firstly, communication around race briefings, arrival times and registration points was entirely unclear, and people's queries weren't met with the friendliest response. I know all or most of you are volunteers, and you must get these queries all the time, but when someone is paying to do a race, they are entitled to have queries answered.
Secondly, the atmosphere at the finish line for marathon finishers was very quiet, I had friends and family there to cheer me over the line, but some people were crossing without even a clap from the volunteers, which when they have run 26.2 miles, or closer to 27 in this case, is such a shame.
Lovely scenic run with friendly people!
beautiful run next to the canal, will definitely do again
Great race
As a slower runners i got a huge cheer over the line which was really lovely. Really friendly marshalls and a huge table full of treats at the end.
Fantastic medal, lovely company to deal with
Nice friendly race, inaccurate half marathon course
Half marathon was almost half a mile too long which is wildly out and a shame as it makes a big difference when going for a ‘time’.
Otherwise, a nice small, friendly, scenic race.
Really enjoyable and well organised
Would love to know how I ranked in the half marathon - position and number of entries please
Lovely run
Beautiful scenery, with lots of treats at the end was fab. It was on the pricey side and organisation was a bit poor, as it was my first run in a while, a follow-up email would have been nice, suggesting what time I arrived, exact location and what to do on arrival. Otherwise everyone was friendly, supportive and a really nice run
Distance was way off
Not enough marshals, drinks stations way past advertised, distance was 0.5 miles longer. Drinks and snacks afterwards was very welcome.
Great day out with Grim up north as always
Fantastic organisation, friendly marshalls, well stocked aid stations.
Perfect day out for runners of all abilities
Love grim runs. Friendly. Good support. Fun atmosphere. Choice of distances.
Always like the 10m and 20m options. Great distances for training runs and no one else offers those distances! A real USP ...dont stop Grim.
Very well organised , lovely friendly people . Fabulous refreshments after and a beautiful medal
Great route for building distance, my first 5K!
Amazing treats and freebies at the end, thanks so much to the organisers
Fantastic event
Great, picturesque route. Great marshalls. Great medal. Great post-run treats. Thank you!
Value for money and always nice medals.
I have done many grim races since 2015 and have got used to the laid back feel and organisation so it was another nice run in beautiful scenery, thanks for organising.
A beautiful marathon trail run, please do the event next year
Well organised, a lovely scenic trail run, well worth the trip down, great for first timers or runners seeking a personal best. Thank you
Fantastic event and the team are amazing
First GUN Event. Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Superb route along the canal towpath. Sign to make registration a little clearer and a shame everyone was queuing to register on the finish line for the 5k. Otherwise a really well organised event, with loads of goodies!! Thought it was good value for money. Thank you to everybody involved.
