No consideration for the injured runners.
My husband has to pull out due to a foot injury. He had to walk back to the start, passing 2 Marshall’s who said they would call ahead to the organisers, neither did. At the finish they were more interested in keeping the laptop up to date. No one offer him a drink, pain killers or first aid. He had to wait until I finished to get these and a trip to A&E.
The event was good but the organisers on the day were sadly lacking.
Thank you from me and Ianto - our first marathon!
Thank you to all of the organisers, really well set up with super friendly marshals across the course, and well stacked fuel (and cake!) stands during/after the race. The route was slightly hillier than we expected but nicely varied and with great nature/scenery. We couldn't have asked for a more friendly and supportive atmosphere for our first time! The issues from past reviews with crowded starting times had been solved this year as well
A great running event
Enjoyed this run in great scenery. Shame we had to do 2 big and 2 small laps instead of just the two laps as originally planned but I understand it was out of your hands to have to change the route. I had to check my directions with the marshals more than once so I didn't get lost!
Great organisation and a lovely group of people to run with too. Would definitely recommend.

Brilliant as always!!

Brilliant for beginners. Super route. Loads of cake. Amazing medal.
The Grim up North events are the best you will do, how races should be run.
A super friendly, really inclusive and very well organised race.
It's Grim Up North Running events never disappoint - thank you for a brilliant morning out.

Favourite Grim, friendly, challenging, great medal
Just a bit disappointed my results aren't listed...even though I made a point of crossing the line every lap

Another great IGUN event
Once again the IGUN team have laid on a lovely and challenging run.
Looking through the reviews there are one or two minor gripes. Probably bought about by the late, unexpected and unavoidable change to the route.
There are also some useful tips.
Personally I didn't have a problem and enjoyed the whole experience.
But then again I'm a seasoned GRIM participant

Great location, super friendly, lovely scenery

Great first trail race
First time I'd done a trail race, so nice gentle easy run. Shame not being allowed to run by the canal, but not the fault of the organisers. Missed the turnaround point as wasn't very clear, but all sorted out in the end.
But cake, happy faces and a great sense of fun made it all worthwhile.

Terrific trail run for all
Friendly marshalls and runners.
Glen Buckingham
First time runner, enjoyed the event and camaraderie between all runners. Nice relaxed atmosphere.ed
As a first time runner I have nothing to gauge it against, however I found the venue excellent with plenty of car park spaces close to start line.
No issues with signing in but was there early as not sure what to expect.
Organisation seemed fine but the only issue I had with it was I felt a Marshall should have been placed where the loop was as I missed the turning first time around and on the final loop of 1.6 miles went wrong again so ended up running over 7.1 miles.
As I said I was a first time runner so not sure if it was my fault.
Overall an amazing experience and looking forward to my next one

Excellent event - well planned
This is the second “it’s grim up north run” they’re so well organised, the medals are fantastic, the Marshalls and staff are very helpful. The cakes and snacks after the are epic, I’ll be signing up for my third run.

Really friendly race with lots of cake
Plenty of parking spaces at the Skelton services, great facilities for before / after the run. Lovely route even though there were unexpected changes before the race. Organisers gave all necessary info ahead of the run. Love the cake at the end - those with food intolerances / allergies will also find something for themselves!

Not something I’ve done before
I found it a little confusing with the route change , which wasn’t there fault . It was due to water ways
Becky Philipson
Scenery and loop lovely. I booked the 20miler and apparently there was a change of course the morning off/night before. In the briefing the new route was mentioned.
Deborah Montgomery
Fabulous friendly and with cake
I love this run! It was my first proper run in 2023, i did the 5 miles. This year i decided to step it up to half marathon. Every one on the course, runners and marshalls, were friendly and happy. It was a warm one but there was plenty of water and juice at the refreshment stations. Instructions were clear and the course rpute was clearly signposted and easy to follow.
Amazing event highly recommend
Lovely route, friendly staff, accommodating and pleasant personal experience provided.

Really fun run.
Really relaxed run and organised very well!

Not what I expected
The blurb on the page actually said kebabs at the finish! I knew there would be cake but only because I had done it before. The route ran was also not like on the page blurb. I dont just mean the issue with the additional 2mile that had to be pulled off! On the page it was essentially a canal run. If I had know it was the same route as last year I would have worn trail shoes, also I dont like crossing the finish line and going out again generally but the turn around sign was not very clear and so me and a lot of others ran all the way to the bridge. Even the Marshall commented on it.
