Lovely race
Really lovely organisers and community, excellently organised, brilliant day

Great course and well very well organised.
Decided to run the 20 mile event due to upcoming marathon, and this was the closest to our requirement. We live just off J18 of the M1 so quite a journey, but will look out for more events from them as I thought the organisation and stations were excellent. Very low key but very friendly so great for beginners. Clear instructions and lovely route. One other comments about the drink station, and the water jugs could be kept full would be handy, other than that very good. Enjoyed the beer afterwards.

Always good
I didn't actually run. I couldn't find the booking - it was a transfer from the cakeathon. I got a comment back that my details/booking could not be found. So didn't come - so despite several emails about running at this event (and so using up my money/previous charge), you have my money and I haven't done a race. I am.nitvsure how to impressed now.

super fun and very welcoming

first GuN but won't be my last
I have previously looked at Grim Up North events but for some reason through these were not for me. I turned up not fully knowing what to expect but was welcomed by others even before I got to the registration. I have previously done the larger, more crowed marathons, which may have been a reason I kept away from previous event. I am now convert to the small events I did find it more of a challenge at time not been caught up in a large field but that said I t was also relaxing not to have additional pressure. It was also good to see the different distances out on the same course and the encouragement from others.

an enjoyable run.
Lovely run, well organised and supportive. Loads of snacks and drinks. Unfortunately nothing for the veggies in the bbq.
But I would definitely do it again.

Ideal for runners of any ability
Fantastically organised and executed event. Always a great atmosphere. Big shout out to the friendly marshalls on course too.
Wish more events would come with a bacon butty at the end!

Great for beginners
Very good event. I felt the water stations could provide a bit more support rather than pouring your own water. I'm not the king or anything but if there was ready poured cups then runners can just grab and run rather than stopping. Also felt the distance was way off. I get our watches aren't always 100% reliable but I completed the marathon about 600 metres before the finish line. I know others had this issue too.
Other than that great event and thank you to all who organised it.

Great location
Really enjoyed my 1st half and my 1st run with grim up north, the canal bridges kept me on my toes at 6ft3 but overall a great day and a pb

Amazing Medal & Cakes!
I've done a few of these events now. Always so friendly, both participants, organisers and volunteers. Food stations with drinks, cakes, sweets and today the bacon sandwiches were fab, washed down with a non-alcoholic beer after!
Lovely flat routes along the canal. The medal is always fab - after all, it's always about the medal!
I had to defer for a week due to a Hamstring injury, that was no issue at all and there was no request for an admin fee, unlike other rip off events.
Thank you as always to the wonderful people behind the scenes!!!

Jack Burrow
Welcoming and encouraging group
Intermediate runner, second time with running with Grim, and both times have been great. Organisers helpful and lots of goodies provided
George Fielding
Low key event but great for a PB
Highly recommended. Good range of food and drinks at the end including vegan options
Amy Benson
That snack table!! 10/10 :)
This was my first Grim event, only because I live south yorkshire way and consider most of the ones north of leeds a bit far travel-wise. It was fantastic, great info sharing beforehand so it was clear where to go and when. Really friendly event and the post-run variety snacks and drinks were amazing, I absolutely needed that tango!!
Nick Floyd
very happy with the organisation of the run and enjoyed the scenery.
